(about 3.3 million American adults) . it is important to know the signs and symptoms of depression in order to treat it according to (ADAA) . scientists agree that depression is a brain disorder but there is a major debate about the exact causes of depression. Many things can contribute to depression, such as genetics from family, hormone levels, all kinds of medical illnesses, stress and grief, or drug abuse. All of these are big contributors to depression, bipolar disorder and related disorders (UMDC) . a lot of times people become depressed because of jobs or family related issues and school. To prevent depression in a natural way people set goals in life. When people are depressed they feel like they can’t accomplish daily things. That makes people feel very bad about themselves. People with depression dont always have the same treatments to get the illness cured. What works for some people might not work for others. A major way people cope with depression or help others is to be informed about how to get treatment, when people get informed about the illness and how to get it treated they know how to counter the illness.Another disease you should know about is PTSD. However symptoms may not appear until several months or even years later” (NIMH). typical symptoms that some people may experience when they have ptsd are reliving the trauma in dreams or just out of no where in their head and there are physical symptoms such as your heart racing and out of nowhere you start sweating, sometimes you may have dreams about what happened and you can have scary thoughts at any time of the day. “An estimated 8% of Americans which is 24.4 million people have PTSD”. That is equal to the total population of Texas. Everyone out of every nine women develop PTSD, making them about twice as likely as men” (ptsd united).Also when people suffer from PTSD they tend to miss alot of days at work and they tend to work less efficiently. People with PTSD also have a bigger chance of not getting jobs. Also people with PTSD tend to have lots of issues in their marriages than people without PTSD. people who get married to people with the condition tend to struggle alot because they cant handle all the stress that comes with ptsd. Other things that can make it difficult to live with people with PTSD is being financially stable, making sure that the person with PTSD is physically ok and mentally. Things like that can have a very bad impact in a relationships because people wont know how to cope with the stress from their loved one with ptsd.PTSD can develop insanely stressful and sometimes depressing events after a traumatic experience. When ptsd is being treated a very common treatment used today consist of talk therapies and various kinds of medicine. There are plenty other options around such as yoga and meditation and biological treatments like hyperbaric oxygen therapy and transcranial magnetic stimulation, or online treatment programs.
